The clinical research department at Bone and Joint Hospital at St. Anthony works with a number of companies and physicians to conduct studies in various areas, such as rheumatoid arthritis osteoarthritis, osteoporosis and systemic lupus.

The research department staff includes a department director and three full-time study coordinators. They have completed clinical trials in Phases I-IV, which spans from early or first use in humans to post-market safety follow-up studies.

  • On Jan. 8, 2010, the US Food and Drug Administration approved ACTEMRA (tocilizumab) for the treatment of adult patients with moderately to severaly active rheumatoid arthritis who have had inadequate response to one or more tumor necrosis factor antagonist therapies.
